Full Description
Motts Farm is a historic farmstead located to the north of the settlement of Marks Tey. It was shown on the 1897-1904 Epoch 2 map to be a large detached site made up of five buildings. Approximately 50% of the buildings survive, including two listed buildings. These are the Grade II listed C15 Mott's Farm House (LB Number: 1266736), and the Grade II listed C17 barn, known as The Barn (LB Number: 1224584). The other buildings were demolished between 1958 and 1973. The Barn seems to have been converted into a dwelling around 1987, and there have been modern extensions and alterations to the farmhouse. This suggests that the use of the site has changed to residential only now. The map shows three farm ponds situated around the site, with two of these surviving. The other pond seems to have been removed around the same time as the original outbuildings. <1>
