Full Description

Eight Ash Green is originally shown on the 1777 Chapman & Andre Historic Map, located where the settlement of Eight Ash Green is now. Theshape of the green is impossible to tell from this map, as no obvious formations help to discern its location. However, it is named on the map so it must be assumed that there was a green there at some point. <1>

Eight Ash Green is then shown on the County Series at 1:2500 Scale Epoch 1 Historic Map (1874-1887), where a shape and size for the green can be assumed. It nseems to be roughly triangular in shape, with an area of 0.8684ha. However, this area has already been encroached on by housing development from the settlement of Eight Ash Green. There is a listed building that is on the edge of the green, which is the Grade II listed C17 Bakery Cottage (LB Number: 1239673). <2>
