Full Description

Fordham Heath is originally shown on the 1777 Chapman & Andre Historic Map, located to the east of the settlement of Eight Ash Green. The heath is shown on this map to be subrectangular-shaped, with an area of c.15ha. The map shows one group of buildings on the east edge of the heath. <1>

Fordham Heath is then shown on the County Series at 1:2500 Scale Epoch 1 Historic Map (1874-1887). A number of buildings have been built around the edge of the heath. Part of the heath has been lost to allotment gardens.

The modern heath is a similar shape and size to the Epoch 1 version, except there has been an increased number of houses built around its edge.
