Whitmore Heath is shown on the 1777 Chapman & Andre Historic Map, located to the east of Colchester and north of Wivenhoe Heath, c.18ha in area. Most of the heath falls outside of the borough (and within Tendring).<1>
Whitmore Heath also appears on the 1st edition OS 1:10,000 (1800).
