Full Description

Hornwood Heath is shown on the 1777 Chapman & Andre Historic Map, located to the east of Fingringhoe. The heath is shown on this map to be an irregular shape, with an area of c.44ha., extending to the Roman River and the River Colne. The map shows numerous buildings around the edge of the heath.<1>
The heath is also marked on the c.1805 First Edition 1 inch OS.<2>
