Full Description

South Green is shown on the 1777 Chapman & Andre Historic Map, located to the south of the settlement of Fingringhoe. The green is shown on this map to be a thin linear shape that follows the curvature of the road. It has an area of 12.32ha. The map shows a small number of buildings surrounding the green. However, as none of them were listed it is impossible to tell if they survived. South Green does not appear on any other maps, so it must have been removed or developed over at some point before 1874. It seems that the need for farmland overtook the area, leading to its removal. <1>
