Full Description

Birch Green is shown (but not labelled) on Chapman & Andre's 1777 Map, located c.1km south of Great Birch, abutting Layer Breton Heath to the south. The green is shown on this map to be roughly triangular shaped, with a linear section extending to the north-west. It has an area of 5ha. The 1777 map shows two collections of buildings on the edge of the green, and one building in the centre of the green. This building seems to be the Grade II listed C17 house, Anita Villa (LB Number: 1170154). <1>
