A moat surrounds Rivers Hall which is of C18 date, grade II. <2> The moat may be earlier, possibly dating from the fourteenth century. <1> Other refs: <3> <4> <5> Incomplete, rectangular moat. <6> Sketch plan on back MSRG card. <7> To be associated with the family of John de `Ryveres' (1264) and Richard de `la Riviere' (1310) who were lords also of Stanford Rivers. Also mentioned in 1391, `Ryvereshalle', 1412, `Ryvers', and 1502, `Revershall'. <8>
