Full Description
Moat at East Donyland Hall. <1> <2> Tracing of (?)OS 6" map of 1874 from ERO in SMR, shows three arms of a moat with a small building within and others outside. It also shows two ponds to north-west and north-east and a series of three small rectangular ponds to the south-east of the moat. <5> <6> Incomplete, rectangular moat. <7> Sketch plan on back of MSRG card shows moat and the three rectangular ponds similar to earlier map. <8> APs show site survived in 1976 in similar form to that shown on map in SMR, waterfilled. The three ponds were in woodland and so did not show on APs. Of the other ponds, that to the north-east of the moat showed in the arrangement of a group of trees. <3> <4>
