Full Description

Parish church contains Roman tile in the masonry fabric. <1> <3> Small C4 coin found near the church in about 1942. Reverse:Victory. <2> Roman bricks in the fabric, others have turned up in grave-digging. There are reports of a villa under or near the church. <4>
In May 1990 contractors found a void 18' long 9' high, arm depth. ?Left by removed carved stone, but otherwise not obviously explicable. Filled on architect's instructions. Traces of plain red paint were found in the same area. <5>
