Moat, traces of outer enclosure. <1> The moat partly surrounds the house (see 9167). There are traces of an outer enclosure. <2> Incomplete, irregular moat. <3> Sketch plan on back of MSRG card. <4> 'The manor of Garnons', in whose family it was for 300 years (DB to 1383). Reaney gives various references to the placename, including Morant. <5> <6> According to SMR, Garnons is mentioned in Wright's History of Essex. <7>
