Full Description

Fieldwalking carried out while planting up a new wood under the Woodland Grant Scheme. There was a scatter of post medieval tile in almost all the survey area. This type of background scatter is common throughout Essex and is probably due to the practice of spreading rubbish on fields as a form of fertiliser. This also accounts for the 13 sherds of post medieval pottery found. <1> <2>
