Full Description

A grass-tempered rim sherd was found in the top of the fill of the latest Roman town ditch during the archaeological excavations of 1973-6 at Balkerne Lane. The sherd was roughly burnished on the exterior and rim. The pot from which the sherd derived was globular in shape with a short, slightly everted rim. <1>
