Full Description

In 1935 excavation for a new bowling green revealed a very large number of human bones in either partly articulated or wholly disturbed states.<1> Although Hull, who observed these operations, felt unable to explain or date these discoveries satisfactorily, their disturbed condition provides a parallel for Saxon artefacts and skeletal remains found 75m to the east. He states, 'The date of these skeletons could well fall in the darkest part of the Dark Ages, but of this there is no proof'.<2> (see MCC8606)

NB. This is the same as MCC2362.
