Full Description

Pipe trench laid along the Maldon Road. Various Roman finds, nothing of significance except for a human tibia from near the junction of Maldon Road and Beaconsfield Road. This was found within a few metres of a small pit or ditch apparently Roman in date. A second feature recorded was a layer of gravel opposite Salisbury Avenue, c.0.3m thick, the surface 1.3m below modern ground level though the gravel appeared to be little too fine for Roman street metalling. <1>
