Full Description
Rear extension. Roman wall foundation of mortared septaria noted in the N and S sections of the trench at the rear of this extension. It lies c.15-20m S of the Roman road leading to the Balkerne Gate, roughly perpendicular to the road. Adjacent to the E side of the foundation was a clayey deposit, probably makeup for a floor. To the W a stoney layer suggests an alley or yard. <1>
