Summary

In January 1936 a wall judged by EJ Rudsdale to be Roman was cut through in the E pavement of Queen Street opposite the corner of Short Wire Street and 9.5ft S of the S corner of the National Bus Company's Garage.

Full Description

In January 1936 a wall judged by EJ Rudsdale to be Roman was cut through in the E pavement of Queen Street opposite the corner of Short Wire Street and 9.5ft S of the S corner of the National Bus Company's Garage. The wall was 14" wide and 2.5ft high. In January 1935 part of a tile arch with pink mortar - ?part of a drain - was found in the street opposite 45A. There was no sign of its wall. Noted by EJ Rudsdale. <1>
