Full Description

In May 1928 a pit for cables was sunk in Trinity Street, opposite the N end of Potter's premises (next S of Marshall, solicitor). The end of a rubble wall projected into it from the W c.ft below the surface and 18" thick lying on soil. The pit was carried down to 6ft where it was approaching original ground level. All along the bottom, on the E side, ran the remains of a Roman wall, the top c.6ft from the surface. <1> <2>
