Full Description

Observations by Wire 1849 during excavation for a sewer. Nearly opposite the Grammar School (now Messrs Adams Garage) an old wall was found crossing the street at right angles and c.5ft below the surface, "exhibiting the usual hardness and compactness". <1> Very hard foundation wall crossing the street at right angles opposite garage on the site of the Garmmar School. <2> Other refs. <3> <4>
