Full Description

During alterations to Winsley's House (Insula 23), one of the workmen reported that near the NW corner of the (interior) of the building he had struck Roman tiles belonging to two walls running east-west and north-south. The Museum Report notes that in making alterations to this house in April, 1954, pottery and broken clay pipes were found about 18in. down. The pottery was chiefly Belgic, with some Roman, up to barbotined ware, not later.<1>
