Full Description

Roman road observed in sewer trench exact direction unknown. Sewer trench cut along Fitzwalter Road N of tumulus revealed a Roman road crossing the present road obliquely. The marginal sketch shows its apparent line as passing N of the inner angle of St Clare and Fitzwalter Roads and just touching the E tip of a crescentic group of firs E of the tumulus. <2>.
