Full Description

A 'triple dyke' discovered by Mr RJ Martin in 1955 during extention work to the County High School for Girls. A plan was made but no section drawings. Notes were made by MR Hull. Ditches not bottomed as exposed were average 4 metres wide and as a group 25.5 metres across. A small quantity of second century pottery but not recovered from stratified deposits. Southern end of the site postholes were exposed in the section 15cm across, 45cm deep and about 45cm apart. Outside their line was a small ditch. The group probaly comprises a small building. Also ?second century pits. Remains probably to be associated with those found by Mr J Wacher (1955).
