Full Description

Mr Lithgall a local 'treasure hunter' with a metal detector reported the discovery of a lead coffin under the porch of 55, Endsleigh Court. The coffin is apparently still there but what was described as a 'double headed urn' associated with it was taken by workmen. Mr Lithgall also showed a collection of bronzes from a 'ploughed field' near Colchester including several figurines (published in Not Only A Matter Of Time) and coins of ?Constans. He would not disclose the exact location of the field. Perhaps it is in the Sheepen area. <2>
