Observation on the Lexden sewer separation scheme trench produced negative results apart from one small pit or ditch seen in section opposite the drive of number 22, St Clare Road. Although no finds were recovered from it the fill and the appearance of that of a prehistoric or (less likely) a Roman feature. <2>
