Full Description
In 1903-4 the site was cleared for the present Hippodrome, involving the destruction of the premises of Tabrum and Jones. The museum has a hollow tile then found built into Roman foundations. Most of the pottery passed into the hands of an antique dealer. Coins included Claudius, Vespasian, Hadrian, CL.Gothicus, Carausius, Allectus, Constantine, Valens. In the next year a complete jar was found (961.05) which may have been a foundation pot, part of a bronze finger ring with intaglio and six more coins. <1> - <4>
