Full Description

Two carved stone heads, possibly Medieval in date. <1> Set into the rear wall of the house are two carved stone heads, at a height just below that of the first floor joist level; they are positioned symmetrically with respect to the arrangement of windows and former ground floor doorway. Each is c.20 x 15 cms, set into niches so as not to project from the surroundng stones. The stone has not been analysed but they are quite probably clunch. They would appears to be a male and female, and contemporary. <2> <3> can be seen intact, the rest having suffered flaking and bursting from years of frost and erosion. <2>

Site Assessment = The heads are in poor condition, no more than 30% or 40% of their surface
