Full Description

Medieval kiln. Surface collection of pottery wasters from an area of black soil c.2m in diameter. It seems probable that this represents a further kiln in the Mile End (Horkesly) group. No kiln lining or furniture was exposed on the field surface and it is possible that the plough has disturbed the upper fill of a pit containing kiln wasters. The vessels found date to the early-mid C13. <1> Another Medieval kiln at Mile End, Colchester/-<1>
