Full Description

Roman coin hoards found in 1983: 4041 antoniani c.AD270 found in a pot, c.1350 coins associated with two pots, 501 coins in a pot (antoniani). All three were deposited within a short time of each other and no later than 270 AD. <1> The find spot lies in the middle of the Iron Age and Roman complex at Gosbecks. According to the the dates of issue of the latest dateable coins in each pot the three hoards were buried separately in the years 269, 271 and 274. <2> and cataloguing. <1>

Site Assessment = Found to be treasure trove; now with the British Museum for conservation
