Full Description

A linear earthwork bank across the floodplain of a tributary of Roman River, to the east of Great Birch, aligned approx. N-S, c.50m long . It is recorded on the 1st Edition 1:2500 map (1874-1887). The date is unknown, but presumably it created a pond/lake to the west, perhaps for a mill?, between it and the church (MCC7307), but it could also have formed an earthwork boundary.<1>

The site has not been the subject of any systematic archaeological investigation.
