Full Description

Inscribed Roman altar found at Balkerne Lane 6ft below the surface in a diagonal position at the south-west corner of the ditch surrounding the fort. It measures 4ft in height and c.2ft square, cut from a solid block of firestone or `greensand'. <1> <2> in <1>
