Full Description

Medieval kiln site. "cf also letter 8755 19VIII76 which defines site to SE".<1>
At TL 977303 Medieval pottery and signs of burning were discovered, during laying of gas pipeline, as at the possible kiln site to the N (see MCC7205).<2> This site was a pit in the trench section, 2ft in diameter x 1ft deep. The infill contained some medieval pottery and signs of burning. Records of similar period pottery found on these two sites in 1932 and 1956 appear on Castle Museum maps.<3><4>
