Full Description

Possible kiln site.<1> Possible kiln site found at TL 978303 when a large quantity of pottery (c.1300) was found during the laying of the Witham-Langham gas pipeline in 1973. Medieval pottery and signs of burning were also discovered at TL 977343 (see MCC7206).<2>
Other records of similar period pottery found on these two sites in 1932 and 1956 appear on Castle Museum maps. The 1973 finds from this site are from an area 30 feet square.<3><4>
