Full Description

A Bronze Age straight sided scraper recovered as a surface find by Mr PJ Vines. It is a finely flaked, unifacially pointed flint tool which resembles a roughout for an arrowhead except for the lack of any retouch on the ventral face. Such pieces have two retouched sides converging to a point and are interpreted as knives or straight sided scrapers. They are often found in burials but no burials are known from the immediate vicinity - the nearest are at Sheepen, 0.5kms and Chitts Hill, 2 kms distant. The finds are now in Colchester Museum. <1> <2> <3> <4>
