Full Description
During excavations at Balkerne Lane in 1973-6 (ECC332), a Roman child inhumation was discovered lying in a lead coffin within a late Roman sand extraction pit. The burial was not in its original position but had been disturbed in antiquity and reburied in the sand pit.<1>
