Full Description

During excavations at Balkerne Lane between 1973-6 (ECC332) a substantial late Roman ditch was discovered. The ditch formed the latest and eastern most section of a system of drainage (see MCC630 and MCC632) situated along the south side of the main Colchester to London street (MCC475) and probably drained into the late Roman town ditch (MCC659).<1>
