Full Description

During excavations at Balkerne Lane between 1973-6 (ECC332), a possible water-tank (CAT feature VF422) was discovered which consisted of a shallow pit lined on the sides and bottom with clay. Inside the lining the tank was 1.0m x 0.7m and 0.25m deep. The tank was probably for feeding stock or as a supply for cultivation of allotments (see MCC473).<1>
