Full Description

Bronze brooch fragments recovered by a metal detectorist in March 1998 include Roman and Early Saxon examples. Roman examples include a "thistle/keyhole" shaped plate with central hole (containing iron corrosion). On the back the stubs of two lugs for a hinged pin and catchplate stub. Described as Hattatt nos. 632-633, 1472 (no drawing). Surviving length 29mm, max. surviving width 15mm. Other fragments may also be Roman. <1>
