Full Description

Signpost. 1920s/1930s. Cast iron. Manufactured by Stanton of Derbyshire. A circular section tapered post with raised ring decoration and an annulus finial reading ESSEX COUNTY COUNCIL. Three arms with rounded ends reading (1) COPFORD PLAINS (2) EASTHORPE / MESSING (3) MARKS TEY STN / LONDON ROAD.<1>
Postcard between 1933 and 1940 shows a fourth arm (legend illegible) and an under hanging board on the COPFORD PLAINS arm reading TO COPFORD HALL. Post painted in black and white banded livery therefore dates the postcard after 1933.<2>
