Full Description
Contemporary records state, “Spigot mortar position. Flour Mills, Land between Mill Race and river. Map ref. 506517”. (Mil.Ed.) <1> From the description of the location it appears that this spigot mortar emplacement must have been sited on the island between the mill race and the lock. This area is now a private garden laid mainly to grass with nothing apparent of the emplacement surviving.
