Full Description

An earthwork survey concluded that the most definate manmade features in the field were two ponds. The weir element in the placename would suggest either the control of water levels of the ponds through the use of banks or sluices, or 'weir' caould simply refer to embankments at the sides of the creeks. The weir element could also potentially refer to a fish weir, a fixed fishing structure. The other potential features are two mounds which may perhaps be the remnants of red hills. <1>
