Full Description

A quantity of Roman finds were recovered in later levels as residual material, including pottery and building material. Roman remains are thought to survive in the north of the site but were below the depth to which it was possible to excavate. On the basis of evidence of previous excavations Roman levels would be expected at 2.5-3.5m depth. Waterlogged conditions meant that the trenches were not excavated to this depth.<1>
