Full Description

The archaeological watching brief monitored the clearance of the site down to the level of the underlying natural sand. The sand was overlain by modern overburden, 0.3m to 1.2m deep.
The depth of the overburden increased towards the back (south) of the site. There were no pre-modern deposits and features and very few pre-modern finds. The stratigraphic evidence indicated that the site had been extensively desturbed in modern times.

The finds were residual and largely comprised several undiagnostic medieval sherds, and a small assemblage of mostly 16th to 17th century pottery. All of the finds were found on the surface of modern features.<1> <2>
