Full Description

The watching brief produced an assemblage of mainly 1st-century AD Roman amphoras and pottery of types found previously at Sheepen. Several pits were recorded, one of which was dated by pottery to the early Roman period. A short stretch of mortared Roman tiles, presumed to be a Roman wall or foundation, was found by contractors after the watching brief had finished.<1>
