Summary

Eight sherds of 16th to 19th century AD pottery and 39 sherds of 19th to 20th century pottery, all unstratified, were recovered during a small excavation by Colchester Excavation Committee in 1975-76. See MCC5164 for main record.

Full Description

There were eight sherds of 16th to 19th century AD pottery and 39 sherds of 19th to 20th century date, all from ploughsoil/subsoil contexts L1 and L2. These were thought to have been deposited by manuring in the fields.<1>
Note that the publication report lists only 32 sherds (311g) of medieval and later pottery in total from the excavation.<2>
