Contemporary records state, "Pillbox. Wakes Colne, 2 ½ acre meadow adj. The Tavern and W. of The Station. Map ref. 345473." (Mil. Ed.). This pillbox can be seen on an aerial photograph taken in 1946 standing at the S end of a meadow on the N side of the station entrance. It was an hexagonal, anti-aircraft type.
