Full Description
1996: Mess site associated with WW2 airfield; no longer extant.
2006: An Air Ministry plan of Boxted Airfield and its Dispersed Sites, dated November 1944, shows Dispersed Site No. 3, the Mess Site, in fields north of Salary Brook. It comprised nineteen buildings and other structures. An aerial photograph taken in 2000 shows the site to now be part of the A12 highway, its verges and adjoining meadow.<5><6>
