Full Description

During the Watching brief on Anglian Waters pipeline from Bures to Great Horkesley 'a spread of Roman finds was discovered extending over about 200m'. The finds were especially concentrated in the central 100m of the 200m length. Only one feature was identified and this contained medieval pottery. The Roman finds from this site consisted of 2nd to 3rd century pottery, fragments of querns and fragments of brick and tile. The finds possibly indicate a domestic settlement site of the late 2nd to early 3rd century.
