Full Description

At the request of Mr. P. Berridge, Head of Museum Resource Centre, Colchester, a magnotometer survey of the North- West corner of Gosbeck's Archaeological Park was carried out in Feb. 1998. The objective was to determine the position of archaeological features in the area in advance of the construction of a visitors centre. <1>.

The survey has revealed a large number of linear features, which are ditches, and a small number of circular features. There is also an area in which there is a concentration of pits, or cremation burials, and perhaps some agricultural iron. <1>.

The area was found to contain many archaeological features. It is recommended that a small excavation should be undertaken to examine feature B- a wide linear feature, possibly containing some masonry or brick. <1>.
