Full Description

In 1976 AA Doorne examined and photographed "What appears to be a section of Roman Road" still clearly visible, Commencing at a field gate approximately 50 yds ESE of Abberton Church. Clearly defined on both sides by a line of small trees and it appears to have been ditched on either side. Although have dissapeared- either by NAT. sitting or deliberate filling when reservoir was built. (NB line mixed on map is SMR. Line of track on OS map). At a rough calculation the ditches appear to be c. 20' apart, while agger appears just over 17" in width. Road runs S - W to dissapear under the reservoir.

Line now road that led to lower Bown Farm. <1> - <6>.

Under Grassland- has not been poughed in years. No threat to the site so far as is known.
