Full Description

Groundwork for a new roundabout revealed a small cluster of septaria has noted within a feature largely removed by a combination of the reduction work and the installation of a cylindrical drain pit. Although unbouded, most of the stones contained residual traces of mortar and therefore appeared to be re- used. The immediate area also contained a light scatter of disturbed septaria lumps and rare small fragments of peg- Tile. <1>.
The feature is interpreted as part of a well foundation, possibly of medieval date. <1>.
